The Sculpture and Fountain Collection documents the public sculptures and fountains of the Fairmount Park System in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Scope and Contents
Correspondence enclosing historical information on Tedyuscung obtained from a publication of the Sons of the Revolution (1903), a report authorizing placement of a marker designating the statue's location on Wissahickon Drive (1908), correspondence regarding repairs to iron railing to protect the statue from vandals (1937-1938), and correspondence reporting that the statue's left arm and right forearm had become loose (1942, 1947). From the Collection:
The collection contains approximately 200 postcards from 1875 and 2001, though most of the postcards are from 1885 and 1915. A majority of the postcards depict Fairmount Park sites, although two Virginia and one New Hampshire postcard are included in the collection.
Of particular note are the postcards in Series I: Centennial Exposition. The postcards in this series were created in 1875 and each depicts a building from the Centennial Exposition of 1876.
