Scope and Contents
Correspondence from C.W. Henry enclosing information on Tedyuscung obtained from a publication of the Sons of the Revolution (1903), a report of the Committee on Plans and Improvements authorizing placement of a marker designating the statue's location on Wissahickon Drive (1908), correspondence regarding repairs to the iron railing to protect the statue from vandals (1937, 1938), correspondence reporting that the statue's left arm and right forearm had become loose (1942, 1947), and a letter from Bruce Chapman of the "Answer Man" radio program inquiring who presented the statue to Fairmount Park, with a response from Norman Garrett and an accompanying memorandum on the statue's history (1946). Also includes a 2001-2002 maintenance agreement, ephemera related to the statue's 100th birthday and restoration celebration, a 1986 transcript of remarks by Professor Joseph C. Carter at a meeting of the Germantown Chapter of the D.A.R., and clippings (1955-2023).
