This collection contains a variety of maps, plans and drawings relating to East and West Fairmount Park. Materials included in the collection are blueprints, bluelines, linens, mylars and paper. The collection contains diverse types of maps and plans, such as sewer plans, topographic plans, site plans, latitudinal and longitudinal plans, water main plans, street maps, and landscape plans. From the Collection:
The collection contains approximately 200 postcards from 1875 and 2001, though most of the postcards are from 1885 and 1915. A majority of the postcards depict Fairmount Park sites, although two Virginia and one New Hampshire postcard are included in the collection.
Of particular note are the postcards in Series I: Centennial Exposition. The postcards in this series were created in 1875 and each depicts a building from the Centennial Exposition of 1876.

Abstract
In the early part of the nineteenth century, Philadelphia City Council took action to protect the purity of public water. This involved the acquisition of property on the banks of the Schuylkill River in order to eliminate polluting waste that had previously been generated by various industrial sites along the river.
