Contains 5x7 and 8x10 black and white photographs of the site prior to development of the park, park grounds, children playing on the playground, the park fountain, the Three Bears sculpture, and the park dedication ceremony. Notable people featured in this file include Mayor James Tate.

Scope and Contents

This file contains 8x10 black and white photographs of the dedication ceremony of the park fountain, the dedication ceremony of a new building, the building exterior, a game of basketball, the park grounds, the park fountain, and children playing on the playground. Notable people featured in this file include Recreation Commissioner Robert Crawford and civil rights activist and city councilman Cecil B. Moore.

Scope and Contents From the Collection:

The collection contains approximately 200 postcards from 1875 and 2001, though most of the postcards are from 1885 and 1915. A majority of the postcards depict Fairmount Park sites, although two Virginia and one New Hampshire postcard are included in the collection.

Of particular note are the postcards in Series I: Centennial Exposition. The postcards in this series were created in 1875 and each depicts a building from the Centennial Exposition of 1876.
