This collection is comprised of artistic renderings and materials created of Fairmount Park, and for Fairmount Park purposes.

Abstract Stereographs represent an early form of "three dimensional" photography. Images are duplicated and placed side-by-side in order to create a three dimensional effect, an effect which is greatly enhanced with the use of a stereoscopic viewer. Stereographs were an extremely popular commercial success in the late 19th century, largely because they were easily reproduceable. Items included in this collection are of the glass plate negative format or the "Woodburytype" lantern slides. Subject matter covered includes the Pennypack region, RittenhouseTown, Fairmount Park races, and East and West Fairmount Park- all circa the late 19th Century.

Materials date from 1895 to 1972, with the bulk dating from 1950 to 1970.
