Manatawna Farm
Dates
- Existence: 1690-Present
Historical note
The eighty-five acres of Manatawna Farm were acquired by the Fairmount Park Commission in 1984 from the Schuylkill Valley Nature Center (Schuylkill Center). Half the acreage is used to grow hay for the W.B. Saul High School Animal Science Major program. The Farmhouse is occupied by the farmer who manages the agricultural land, and the Barn is used for 4-H programs. Currently, no lease exists between Fairmount Park and the Philadelphia School District for this use. A portion of site is used by the Schuylkill Center for community gardens.
