Scope and Contents
Correspondence from the Fairmount Park Art Association regarding the unveiling ceremony and site grading (1890), specifications for removing and resetting the bronze statue and limestone pedestal by Zantzinger, Borie, and Medary (1919), and correspondence documenting decades of proposed relocations of the statue, including architectural drawings and letters from Paul Philippe Cret (1937-1938) and a 1944 resolution to relocate. Also includes a 1949 letter from Harbeson, Hough, Livingston & Larson regarding lighting of the statue, 2008 correspondence regarding a $15,000 restoration grant from the French Heritage Society, a 2009 conservation treatment proposal by Milner + Carr Conservation, and a 2010 rededication program.
