Landscape architect Oglesby Paul received his A.B. from the University of Pennsylvania in 1899, followed by a Bachelors of Agricultural Science from Harvard in 1901. Following graduation he pursued the art of residential landscape in the Philadelphia area, designing a number of extensive gardens for country houses. Paul also was the designated Landscape Gardener for Fairmount Park. He surveyed the standing trees and proposed a policy of conservation and use for the Park.
