The Carl Mai Restaurant at the Belmont Mansion operated circa 1950s. Established and run by German born Carl Mai, a renowned, classically trained French chef, the restauarant received high local praise during it's operation. Carl Mai later became a member of the Philadelphia Art Alliance. Both he and his wife were advocates and lovers of Fairmount Park, as evidenced throughout the collection.
