Vogt Recreation Center, 1956-1969
Scope and Contents
Photographs of the park grounds and building exterior, children using playground equipment, and people swimming. Events documented include new gymnasium dedication ceremony, hula hoop contest, basketball clinic taught by 76er Billy Cunningham, tumbling workshop, Little Miss America contest, costume parade, pool dedication ceremony, and "Fisharama" where live fish were released into the pool and participants attempted to catch them with rods and reels. Notable people pictured include Mayor James Tate and Recreation Commissioner Robert Crawford.

The two photos taken around the 1950s were included in the City of Philadelphia Department of Recreation's maintenance file for Vogt Recreation Center. This file was donated to the archive in 2019.
