The Fairmount Park Postcards Collection contains 198 postcards dating from approximately 1875 to 2001, with the bulk of the material dating from approximately 1875 to 1915. The majority of the postcards depict sites in Fairmount Park and Wissahickon Valley Park, including landscapes, historic houses, bridges, roads, fountains, monuments, and other park features. The collection also includes postcards depicting neighborhood parks, recreation sites, Philadelphia-area landmarks, and a small number of locations outside Pennsylvania.

Series I contains postcards created in 1875 depicting buildings associated with the Centennial Exposition of 1876. Many postcards are commercially produced views; some also contain inscriptions, messages, publisher information, or other evidence of use.
