Fairmount Park, Water Works: Fairmount Water Works Aquarium
Scope and Contents
The collection contains approximately 200 postcards from 1875 and 2001, though most of the postcards are from 1885 and 1915. A majority of the postcards depict Fairmount Park sites, although two Virginia and one New Hampshire postcard are included in the collection.
Of particular note are the postcards in Series I: Centennial Exposition. The postcards in this series were created in 1875 and each depicts a building from the Centennial Exposition of 1876.

Verso: Philadelphia Water Department's OPEN HOUSE. Saturday, November 9, 11 am to 3 pm at the historic Fairmount Water Works Aquarium and Kelly Drives in Fairmount Park. Tour the Water Works. Discover how we purify water for drinking, monitor water quality, repair water mains, and protect the Delaware and Schulykill Rivers from pollution. For information, call 592-6300. The Water Department would like to thank The Commissioners of Fairmount Park, the Philadelphia Ranger Corps and the Water Works Restoration Committee for their help in coordinating this event.
