Dear Mr. [Rob] Armstrong,
This is the ledger that we discussed a week or so ago of the daily expenditures for Fairmont [sic] Park for the years 1870-72. We acquired it, along with a group of doctor's ledgers from a "picker" in eastern North Carolina. He said that he got them from soemone in Norfolk.
We kept them all when we closed our antique shop on the Outer Banks in 1991. Recently we discovered the Fairmont [sic] Park one among them. We hope that it will be a worthwhile addition to your park archives.
I enjoyed a visit or two to the park in the early 1950's, with music by the Philadelphia Paps, when I was attending a school at the Navy Yard. The park is a beautiful addition to a historic city.
Sincerely, Paul Evans
