VOGDES, Russell Thayer, a Representative from Philadelphia County; born, November 23, 1890 in Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, Pa.; attended, Staunton Military Academy; graduated, engineering, University of Pennsylvania, 1914; civil engineer; engineer, Cramp’s Shipyard (1914-1920); elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1915 and 1917 terms; not a candidate for reelection to the House for the 1919 term; assistant (1920-1941), director and chief engineer (1941-1953), Fairmount Park Commission, Philadelphia; died, December 2, 1954 in Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania; interred, West Laurel Hill Cemetery, Bala Cynwyd, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania.
